For some reason, I've recently been obsessed with new music in an unabashedly synth-heavy, middle-of-the-road vein featuring female singers. They tend to be British, or at least non-American.
I've already blogged a few artists of this ilk: Goldfrapp, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Imogen Heap (Frou Frou).

From Norway: Kate Havnevik. You can listen to a few of her songs at her MySpace -- I especially recommend "New Day." How timely.
